Visiting Scholar Preceptorship

Program Description

This program is intended to provide physicians and pharmacists with information needed to gain support for and implement a formal antimicrobial stewardship program. Upon completion of this program, the participant should be able to:

  1. Discuss the clinical application of antimicrobial pharmacodynamics.
  2. Describe the recent trends and epidemiology associated with hospital-acquired infections.
  3. Identify the necessary steps for implementation and justification of an antimicrobial stewardship program.
  4. Develop a business plan for an antimicrobial stewardship program.

The curriculum is tailored to each specific visiting hospital based on the completion of the pre-meeting survey. The cost of the program, excluding travel expenses, is $2000/person. This includes the costs associated with continuing education credit.
