Support Groups

Cancer Survivorship Group

  • An educational/support group concerned with survivorship issues for people with a cancer history, their family, friends, or health care professionals. Education presented by health care/community speakers.
  • Meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month, 5:00 - 5:30 p.m. – light dinner/social time, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. - speaker/presentation, held in the Private Dining Room, 3rd Floor of University Hospital, next to the cafeteria. Contact the Social Work Department at 559-4420. Please call to register

Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancers (SPOHNC)

  • Omaha Chapter of national self-help support group for patients with oral and head and neck cancers. Spouses, family, & friends also welcome.
  • Meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month 5 – 6:30 pm; light meal served
  • Contact Social Work Department at 559-4420 for location and other information.

Look Good, Feel Better

  • Provides assistance for make-up and wigs/scarves.
  • Held the 1st Monday of the months at 6:00 p.m. Pre-registration is needed and can be done by contacting the Volunteer Department at 559-4197.

Opportunities for People Experiencing Blood & Marrow Stem Cell Transplants (BMSCT)

  • Introduction to BMSCT - Provides information on the transplant process for patients and their support system. Contact Jeanine at 559-7240 or Diane at 559-6406.
  • Catheter and General Care Classes - are taught by Sue Wardian, RN, MSN. Call 559-8019 to register.
  • BMSCT Luncheon - is for BMSCT or high dose treatment patients, as well as caregivers/families. Contact 559-4420 for more information.
