Surgical Options Support Group

Our support group is an opportunity for our patients to learn more about surgical options of weight loss, and provide mutual support for patients before and after surgery. We welcome patients at all stages of information about the surgery and all patients who have had weight loss surgery. We hope you will bring your family and friends so that they can learn more about your decisions regarding weight loss surgery and help support you after surgery.

The Informational Session is held in classrooms 1-4. The Support group meets in classrooms 6-7.

This session is required for all patients considering weight loss surgery and must be attended before your initial appointment can be scheduled with your physician.

The New Life Post Surgery Support Group

A New Life is a support group open to anybody who has already had Bariatric surgery. Our New Life Post Surgery Support Group is lead by Dr. Peterson, a Licensed Psychologist, with an interest in obesity. She works closely with the obesity surgery program at UNMC. This support group will focus on patients needs after surgery, but all patients are welcome. Our support group is an opportunity for patients to receive and provide mutual support after surgery. We welcome all patients who have had weight loss surgery. We hope you will bring your family and friends so that they can learn more about your decisions regarding weight loss surgery and help support you after surgery.

How to Get to the Meeting

There are two ways to access the meeting site.

• Park in the Clarkson parking lot located on 42nd and Dewey Streets. Enter into the main lobby of Clarkson Tower. If needed, wheelchairs are available at the front desk. Follow the hallway towards the Storz Pavilion Cafeteria. There are elevators that go to the lower level once you enter the Storz Pavilion. Go to the lower level.
• On the south side of the parking garage there is a drive leading to the lower level of the Storz Pavilion. The entrance will face east and go directly to the conference room where the meeting will be held.

The support group will meet in classrooms 6-7 of the lower level Storz Pavilion.

When are the Meetings?

We meet the 1st Monday of each month from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.
