Where do you go when you continue to have pain, despite the fact that your injuries
have healed and you’ve exhausted other forms of therapy such as medications,
physical therapy or chiropractic services? The Pain Management Program at the University
of Nebraska Medical Center, the only multi-disciplinary pain center in the region,
can help.
If you are experiencing chronic, nonmalignant pain that has not been alleviated
effectively through traditional therapies, including medical, surgical and pharmacological
interventions, you may be a candidate for The Pain Management Program. This four-week
program involves a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals who work
together to develop an effective pain management program that incorporates psychological
management of pain, as well as techniques such as biofeedback, mediation and relaxation.
The program teaches patients coping skills and techniques to better manage pain
throughout their daily lives so that they may return to activities associated with
family, school or work. Our team of pain specialists includes clinical psychologists,
physical therapists, women’s health physical therapists, nurses specializing
in pain management, physician pain specialists and neurosurgeons.
Our Staff
The clinical staff of the Pain Management Program are specialists in the treatment
of pain and related conditions that have not responded as expected to typical treatment
interventions. Our staff treats each person as a ‘whole person’ not
just a body part that hurts. In some cases, only one clinician may need to be involved
or you may be informed that other health professionals need to be involved for the
best treatment outcome.
