Nebraska House
at The Lied Transplant Center
The Lied Transplant Center includes 66 suites designed for comfort and
privacy. They contain comfortable furnishings, abundant storage space,
adjustable lighting, separate sleeping and living areas, a kitchenette,
private bathroom in a home-like environment. These rooms also come equipped
with a refrigerator, microwave, television and VCR. Laundry facilities
and many other amenities are designed to make a guest's stay comfortable.
Nebraska House in the SSP Building
The SSP building, which is adjacent to The Lied Transplant Center and
The Nebraska Medical Center University Tower, has 21 economy rooms that
include two twin beds or one double bed, furniture, television and VCR.
Laundry facilities are also available.
Potter's House
This classic Omaha home serves as a temporary residence for transplant
patients and their family in a community living-type arrangement. Just
four blocks from the hospital, the house has been fully renovated with
10 bedrooms, a large kitchen and comfortable family areas. Please note that a referral is required from the Social Work or Transplant Coordinator offices. For more information,

Ronald McDonald House
Completed in 1994, Omaha's Ronald McDonald House is located just three
blocks from campus. Families of pediatric patients can stay at this facility
for $7.50 per night. (Prices subject to change.) For more information,

Patient Services
Patients, friends and family members staying in the Nebraska House or
Cooperative Care rooms have access to a variety of amenities designed
to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. Guest service
staff members are available at the front desk 24 hours a day to help
coordinate your lodging arrangements and to assist you with any special
needs. The guest service desk is located on the second floor of The Lied
Transplant Center.
Transportation
Transportation Volunteers are available to assist you with your
transportation needs. Arrangements are made through Guest and
Volunteer Services, Monday through Friday during regular business
hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Please give a minimum of 24 hours
notice to finalize arrangements. Guest and Volunteer Services can
provide volunteer transportation to and from Eppley Airport, the
Amtrack Train Station and the bus terminal between 6 a.m. and 10
p.m., seven days a week. Guest and Volunteer Services also plan a
weekly shopping trip to local grocery and department stores on
Mondays. Guests can sign up at the Lied Front Desk.
Patient Resource
Center
This room is supplied with books, magazines and videos and medical resources.
The room also contains computer terminals with Internet and e-mail access,
fax machine, copier, CDs, video and board games.
Exercise Room - An exercise room, available
on the second floor of The Lied Transplant Center, is available
to everyone staying in the Nebraska House rooms. It provides patients
the opportunity to regain strength while allowing care partners
and guests the opportunity to exercise while away from home. The
room is equipped with treadmills, stationary bicycles and weight
machines.
Play Rooms - The play rooms are located on
the second and third floors of The Lied Transplant Center. They
provide a magical get-away for children and are filled with toys,
games and videos.
Dining – The Lied Transplant Center Cooperative
Care dining room, located on the third floor of The Lied Transplant
Center, offers a private area for patients, care partners and guests
to enjoy meals. Meals may be selected from the Nebraska Cafe and
eaten there, in the dining room or taken back to your room. Patients
and care partners may also order room service or choose items from
the hospital convenience store. The cost of food for the patient
and care partner is included in the hospital room charge for those
staying The Lied Transplant Center Cooperative Care rooms. The
Nebraska Cafe is located on the third floor of The Nebraska Medical
Center University Tower and adjacent to The Lied Transplant Center
and SSP building.
The Healing Gardens
The Healing Gardens are a beautifully-landscaped outdoor area that provides
a quiet get-away for reflection and conversation for patients undergoing
lengthy treatments. The Healing Gardens are based on the principle
that interaction with nature produces psychological and emotional effects
that enhance physical healing and emotional well-being. The Healing
Gardens are adjacent to The Lied Transplant Center and are open at
all times.
Parking
Parking for guests and visitors of The Nebraska Medical Center and The
Lied Transplant Center is located in the visitor parking structure
next to the Durham Outpatient Care Center, just a short walk away from
The Lied Transplant Center. Patient drop-off and pick up can be done
in the circle drive in front of The Lied Transplant Center for those
staying at The Lied. Patients receiving treatment in the Cowdery Patient
Care Center Treatment Center may park beneath The Lied Transplant Center.
