How You Can Help
University Hospital Auxiliary
| Article Sections | |
Since its incorporation, the Auxiliary has assumed a progressive and dynamic stance. In the first five years, the Board sponsored public educational programs and projects, established a "warm fuzzy" fund to buy amenities for patients that were otherwise unobtainable, and founded construction of the hospital Solarium, which opened in 1982. In 1986, the Outpatient Surgical Center was made possible through a generous Auxiliary donation exceeding $400,000.
Sources of fund-raising include CornerStone Gifts, located in the Durham Outpatient Center east atrium; the Auxiliary's Attic Thrift Shop, located on south 42nd Street; the annual Holiday happenings Boutique held in November; semi-annual gold sales; and Kaleidoscope, a spring fund-raiser with a different theme each year. Another focus of the Auxiliary is service, reflected in the dedication of volunteers in various areas of The Nebraska Medical Center and UNMC.
The primary goals of the Auxiliary continue to be service, fund-raising and education to benefit patients, their families, and our community.
2006 KALEIDOSCOPE - Serengeti Serenade
The University Hospital Auxiliary is proud to announce the proceeds from KALEIDOSCOPE 2006…Serengeti Serenade will primarily benefit Project Reaching Out, a Social Work endeavor established to provide patients and their families with some needed relief for food, shelter, and basic necessities.
In today's economic environment, access to quality health care is becoming a challenge to those who are already financially strained. In light of the many recent natural disasters, it emphasizes how vulnerable we are to catastrophic events, whether they are acts of nature or unexpected illnesses.
Project Reaching Out will help to bridge the financial gap when all other available resources have been exhausted. This fund is carefully protected by Social Work, and money is only given to those with exceptional need.
Your help will allow patients to not only receive the finest care, but provide their families peace of mind during a very difficult time.
Thank you for your support of the University Hospital Auxiliary's Kaleidoscope 2006.
