Mike's Bio
"It's all about fulfilling dreams." That's how Michael Geis, who recently joined
The Nebraska Medical Center as executive director of Development, describes his
profession. Geis, who comes with more than 30 years of experience in not-for-profit
health care, 18 of which have been in development, says he finds much personal satisfaction
from helping others fulfill their wishes and goals.
"Gift-giving is a very personal endeavor," he says. "There are a myriad of ways
in which people can donate to The Nebraska Medical Center and I am here to help
you tailor your gifts to your individual interests and desires. I will go out of
my way to match your charitable objectives with the right program or project based
on your tax objectives and financial situation."
Whatever your gift-giving desires may be, Geis emphasizes that at The Nebraska Medical
Center, every gift is cherished and respected. "Fulfilling dreams takes many shapes
and forms. I believe that everyone's goals are important whether it's providing
stuffed animals to children in intensive care, providing furnishings or equipment
for a specific department or sending a memorial in memory of a loved one. At The
Nebraska Medical Center, every gift is genuinely appreciated and we go out of our
way to salute each and every donor."
Helping others realize their dreams is very rewarding, notes Geis. "When a person's
wishes are fulfilled, everyone wins," he says. "That's what my job is about - making
everyone a winner." And Geis has the unique skills and experience to make that happen.
Geis started his career at Bethphage Mission, near Kearney, Nebraska, a not-for-profit
organization that provides health care and residential services to people with disabilities.
He later became the driving force behind Bethphage Foundation's successful development
efforts to sustain the program. He says his experience in operating and managing
a complex organization equipped him with the knowledge and skills needed to become
a good steward of resources.
Geis has since devoted his career to providing professional gift planning assistance
to literally hundreds of individuals throughout the country for a variety of community
ventures. As a certified fund raising executive, he specializes in working with
individual donors in collaboration with professional advisors to achieve their charitable
objectives.
He has also consulted nationally and lectured throughout the Midwest on gift planning,
fundraising and non-profit management. He is a lifetime resident of Nebraska and
serves on the board of Goodwill Industries, is advisor for TeamMates Mentoring Program-Metro
Omaha and Goals Inc. He is also active in the Association of Fund Raising Executives,
Association of Healthcare Philanthropy and the Omaha Estate Planning Council.
How can you donate to The Nebraska Medical Center? There are countless giving opportunities
at The Nebraska Medical Center and Geis can help direct you to the gift that's right
for you. "When you donate to The Nebraska Medical Center, you are helping support
one of the oldest and finest medical centers in the region," says Geis. "Our ability
to continue to stay on the leading edge of medicine is based on the willingness
of our friends to support our endeavors - endeavors which ultimately may someday
help you, your family and your friends."
